1. Who we are

Zerdly.com (“Zerdly”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is a calculator, file-tool and browser utility website. Zerdly is designed to help you run calculations, convert units, use technical tools, search for useful calculators and process certain files locally in your browser.

Zerdly is built as a privacy-conscious, browser-first website. The default design is no user accounts, no payment system, no database of user calculator inputs and no server-side calculator processing.

2. Summary of our privacy approach

  • You can use most Zerdly tools without creating an account or identifying yourself.
  • Calculator inputs run in your browser and are not stored by Zerdly servers by default.
  • Search runs from a static local search index and is not stored as a server-side search history by default.
  • User-selected files are processed locally in your browser wherever practical and are not uploaded to Zerdly servers.
  • Local preferences (such as your light/dark theme) may be stored in your browser so the site works better for you.
  • If you contact us, we collect the information needed to respond.
  • We use a cookieless, privacy-conscious analytics provider for aggregate page-view counts (see section 9).

3. Personal information we may collect

  • Using calculators/tools: numbers, units, text, dates, coordinates or file data you enter or select — handled in your browser by default, not sent to Zerdly servers.
  • Local preferences: settings such as theme and (in future) units, currency, coordinate format, favourites and recent tools — stored in your device/browser.
  • Contact email: your name, email address and message content if you choose to contact us — used to reply and manage abuse.
  • Technical logs: IP address, browser/device data, pages requested, timestamps, referrers and security events — handled by our hosting/CDN provider to operate and protect the site.
  • Analytics: aggregated page usage, device/browser category and approximate region — collected without cookies (see section 9).

4. What Zerdly does not collect by default

  • No user accounts, usernames or passwords.
  • No payment card details or checkout data.
  • No server-side storage of calculator inputs or output history.
  • No server-side search-query history.
  • No file uploads to Zerdly servers for file tools.
  • No precise geolocation requirement — region preferences are user-selected, not silently inferred, wherever possible.
  • No public user-generated content, comments or forums.

Important: please do not put sensitive personal, confidential work, health, financial or legal details into a message to us unless it is necessary for your request. Calculator tools process locally, but contact messages are sent through an email/form provider.

5. Local browser data

Zerdly may use browser storage such as localStorage to remember settings and improve the site (for example, your light/dark theme, and in future unit preferences, coordinate format, favourites, recent tools or saved local report drafts). This data stays on your device. You can clear it using the “Clear Zerdly data on this device” control at the top of this page, or your browser/device settings. Clearing local data may reset your preferences.

6. Calculator inputs, results and search

Calculator inputs and results run in your browser and are not saved to Zerdly servers by default. Search runs from a static search index and does not create a server-side search history by default.

Our analytics does not receive raw calculator input values, file contents, exported reports, exact coordinates you enter or sensitive text strings. If this ever changes, the feature would be redesigned, clearly disclosed and reviewed first.

7. File tools

Some Zerdly tools may let you select files (such as CSV, text, PDF, image, JSON, DXF or GIS files). The rule is that file processing happens locally in your browser wherever practical, and files are not uploaded to Zerdly servers. Because browser tools still run code on your device, avoid using Zerdly for highly confidential or regulated files unless you have checked the tool and decided it is appropriate.

8. Cookies and local storage

Zerdly uses local browser storage for settings and site features such as your theme preference. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not run Google AdSense or any personalised advertising. Our analytics provider is cookieless. If we ever introduce non-essential cookies or personalised advertising, we will update this policy and, where required by law, ask for your consent first.

9. Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-conscious, cookieless analytics service, to understand which pages are useful and improve the site. It measures aggregate page views and basic device/browser category and approximate region. It does not use cookies, does not build advertising profiles, and does not capture your calculator inputs, file contents, exact coordinates or any sensitive text you enter.

10. Advertising

Google AdSense is not active on Zerdly. If we later enable advertising, Google and advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve, limit, personalise and measure ads, and we will update this policy, add a cookie/consent notice and (for visitors in the EEA, UK or Switzerland) use a certified consent management platform where required, before any ads go live.

11. Spam and abuse protection

When a contact form is added, it may use a honeypot field, rate limiting and provider spam filtering, and optionally a bot-protection service. Such providers may process technical information (such as IP address and browser data) to decide whether a request appears legitimate.

12. How we use information

  • To operate calculators, tools, search, local settings and features.
  • To respond to contact requests, suggestions and support messages.
  • To protect the site from spam, misuse, scraping, attacks and abuse.
  • To improve site quality, speed, reliability, accessibility and tool coverage.
  • To comply with legal obligations and platform policies.

13. When information may be shared

We may share limited information with service providers that help operate the website — such as hosting/CDN, domain/email, analytics and (in future) form, bot-protection or consent providers. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share your calculator inputs, file contents or local report drafts with third parties by default.

14. Overseas disclosure

Zerdly is intended to be a worldwide website and may use providers located in Australia or overseas. If your information is handled by an overseas provider, it may be processed in the countries where that provider operates.

15. Retention

Local browser data stays on your device until you clear it or your browser removes it. Contact messages may be kept for as long as needed to respond and meet legal/security needs. Technical logs are kept according to provider retention settings and limited to what is reasonably needed.

16. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational controls to protect the site and any limited personal information it handles — including private source repositories, protected deployment accounts, security headers, a content security policy, input validation, no eval, no public source maps, dependency scanning, two-factor authentication and provider access controls.

17. Your choices and rights

  • Use tools without creating an account.
  • Clear Zerdly local data using the control at the top of this page or your browser settings.
  • Choose not to contact us.
  • Manage local storage through your browser settings.
  • Contact us to request access, correction or deletion of personal information we actually hold about you (such as contact messages), or to raise a privacy question or complaint.

Some privacy rights depend on where you live and which laws apply. We aim to respond to reasonable privacy requests within a reasonable time and update this policy if the site changes materially.

18. Children and younger users

Zerdly is a general calculator and browser-tool website and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. Younger users should ask a parent, guardian or teacher before sending a message or entering personal information.

19. Professional, safety and regulated tools

Zerdly may include calculators for engineering, mining, surveying, geospatial, electrical, finance, health, safety, construction and other professional contexts. These tools are calculation, education and checking aids only. They do not replace professional judgement, legal advice, engineering certification, medical advice, safety review or local compliance checks. See our Disclaimer.

20. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the website, providers, analytics or legal requirements change. The latest version is always available on this page with a clear last-updated date.
