Morse Signal School
Twelve lessons introduce the 26 letters and 10 digits of International Morse a few at a time. Recognise signals by a lamp, a tone or both, then send them yourself with a hold key.

Controls
- Recognise: Play signal (or Replay slowly), then choose one of four symbols or type it.
- Send: hold the key with a finger, mouse, Space or Enter — a short hold is a dot, a long hold a dash — then press Check.
- Signal chooses lamp only, tone only or both; the unit slider sets the speed from 80 to 300 ms.
The rules
- Playback uses the standard spacing: dot 1 unit, dash 3, 1 unit between the parts of a symbol, 3 between letters and 7 between words.
- Sending is deliberately more forgiving: under 2 units is a dot, 2 to 5 units a dash, over 5 is ignored as too long, and a pause of 2 units ends the letter.
- Lessons open in order. A lesson is mastered at 80% accuracy over at least 10 tries of its new symbols.
Scoring, saving and limits
Each answer adds one attempt — and one correct answer if you got it — to that symbol's tally. The grid shows accuracy per symbol. Nothing here is a certificate or a speed test.
Your lesson, settings and per-symbol tallies are kept on this device only. Download a backup to move them; Clear this game deletes only Morse Signal School's data.
Sound is off until you choose a signal mode with a tone. The microphone is never used, and there are no recordings — the tone is generated in your browser.
Questions
- Why does sending accept timing that playback never uses?
- Holding a key to exact units is hard at first, so input uses wide bands (dot under 2 units, dash 2–5) while playback always uses exact spacing. Both are explained on the page.
- Can I learn with the sound off?
- Yes. Lamp only is the default and every lesson works silently. Tone only is there if you want to practise by ear.
- Which Morse is this?
- International Morse code for A to Z and 0 to 9. Punctuation and prosigns are not included.
