1. About this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Zerdly.com (“Zerdly”, “we”, “us” or “our”) handles information when you use the Zerdly website, calculators, converters, browser utilities, file tools, document builders, Zerdly Interactive, games, puzzles, randomisers, kids and learning content, locally saved features and related pages (together, the “Service”).

Zerdly is designed around a browser-first and data-minimising approach. Many calculations, games, file operations and saved states are designed to run or remain on your own device rather than being sent to a Zerdly application server or account database.

That does not mean that using a website creates no network data at all. Your browser must still communicate with hosting, content-delivery, security and other infrastructure to load the Service. Analytics, consent tools, advertising or other optional third-party services may also process limited technical information when they are enabled. This Policy explains that distinction.

A particular Zerdly feature may display an additional privacy notice if it handles information differently from the general practices described here. A more specific notice applies to that feature to the extent of any difference.

2. Our privacy-first approach

Zerdly is designed so that, by default:

• most tools can be used without creating an account;
• calculator, converter and game logic is performed in your browser;
• raw calculator inputs and outputs are not intentionally stored in a Zerdly application database unless a feature clearly says otherwise;
• supported file tools process selected files locally in your browser wherever practical;
• many settings, favourites, Tool Bag information, game saves, scores and learning progress can be stored locally on your device;
• Zerdly does not require you to create a public profile to use standard tools or games;
• Zerdly aims to collect only the information reasonably needed to operate, secure and improve the Service; and
• Zerdly does not intentionally use raw local calculator inputs, file contents or game answers to build advertising profiles.

3. Information that may be handled

Different information is handled in different ways depending on the feature you use.

3.1 Tool, calculator and converter inputs

You may enter numbers, units, dates, text, coordinates, measurements, selections, technical parameters or other values into a Zerdly tool.

These inputs are generally designed to be processed in your browser and are not intentionally sent to or stored in a Zerdly application database unless the specific feature clearly states otherwise.

Because your device, browser, extensions, operating system, network provider or other software is outside Zerdly’s control, you should not treat a browser-based tool as a secure vault for highly confidential information.

3.2 Interactive, game and learning data

Zerdly Interactive and learning features may create information such as:

• game settings and difficulty choices;
• scores, times, streaks and achievements;
• puzzle, crossword, word-search or jigsaw progress;
• local game history and saved state;
• locally saved educational progress, practice results or parent/teacher review information;
• locally saved virtual creature, pet, inventory or progression state where those features exist;
• custom wheel items, game labels, local nicknames or other user-entered game content; and
• accessibility, sound, display or control preferences.

Unless a feature clearly says otherwise, this information is intended to remain in your browser or device storage rather than being held in a Zerdly user account.

Do not use a real child’s full name, school identifier, address, contact details or other unnecessary personal information as a local nickname, game label or learning entry.

3.3 Local browser storage

Zerdly may use browser technologies such as localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB, Cache Storage or similar browser-side storage to remember information on your device. Depending on the features you use, this may include:

• light/dark theme and display settings;
• unit, region or formatting preferences;
• Tool Bag items;
• favourites and recently used tools;
• saved drafts or locally generated reports;
• game progress, scores, achievements and settings;
• learning progress and practice history;
• puzzle state;
• locally saved custom lists, wheel items or game content; and
• other data needed for a feature to continue working between visits.

Local browser data remains subject to your browser and device controls. It can be deleted by you, your browser, private/incognito mode, storage cleanup, a browser reset, an extension, device replacement or other technical events.

If Zerdly provides a Clear Zerdly data on this device control, using it may permanently remove Tool Bag content, preferences, saved game progress, learning progress and other Zerdly data stored in that browser. Read any confirmation message before continuing.

3.4 Files selected for browser tools

Some Zerdly tools may allow you to select files such as PDF, image, CSV, text, JSON, DXF, GIS or other supported formats.

Where a tool is described as browser-local, Zerdly intends the file processing to occur on your device rather than by uploading the file to a Zerdly application server. A feature that requires an upload or external service must clearly disclose that before the file is sent.

You remain responsible for deciding whether a file is suitable to process in a browser tool. Avoid highly confidential, classified, legally privileged, regulated or sensitive files unless you have independently assessed the tool and your device environment.

3.5 Contact, support and correspondence

If you contact Zerdly, we may receive information such as your name, email address, message content, attachments and any other information you choose to provide. This information may be handled by email, form, anti-spam or related communications providers.

Please do not send unnecessary health information, financial details, passwords, government identifiers, confidential workplace information, children’s personal information or other sensitive material in a contact message.

3.6 Technical, hosting and security information

When your browser requests a Zerdly page, infrastructure providers may process ordinary technical data needed to deliver and protect the Service, such as:

• IP address;
• request date and time;
• requested URL and basic referrer information;
• browser and device characteristics;
• network and protocol information;
• approximate region inferred from an IP address;
• security, firewall, rate-limit, bot-detection and abuse signals; and
• error, performance or availability information.

This information may be processed by Zerdly’s hosting, CDN, DNS, security or related infrastructure providers according to their services and retention settings.

3.7 Analytics information

Zerdly may use privacy-conscious analytics to understand overall traffic, page usefulness, performance and device/browser patterns.

Analytics may include information such as page views, approximate region, device/browser category, referrer, visit timing or aggregated interaction information. Zerdly’s analytics implementation should not intentionally include raw calculator values, game answers, file contents, health/financial values, exact coordinates, contact-message content or other sensitive free-text inputs.

If custom analytics events are used, they should be designed around non-sensitive event names such as “game_started” or “tool_opened” rather than the content a user entered.

3.8 Advertising, consent and similar technologies

Zerdly may display advertising, sponsorships, affiliate links or other monetised content from time to time.

When advertising technologies are enabled on a page, Zerdly and/or advertising partners may use cookies, local storage, consent signals, device or browser identifiers, IP-derived information, page/ad interaction data or similar technologies for purposes such as:

• delivering contextual or personalised ads where legally permitted;
• restricting or adapting ad treatment for children, teens or other age-sensitive users;
• measuring ad delivery and performance;
• frequency capping;
• fraud, invalid-traffic and abuse prevention;
• consent and privacy-choice management; and
• complying with advertising platform policies and applicable law.

The exact technology and legal basis can depend on your region, age treatment, consent choices, provider and the type of page you are visiting.

Where required, Zerdly will provide or use appropriate consent/privacy- choice mechanisms before non-essential advertising or tracking technologies are used. Some jurisdictions may treat certain advertising disclosures as a “sale”, “sharing” or use for targeted advertising even when no money is paid for the personal information itself. Where those laws apply, required choices or opt-outs should be provided.

Zerdly does not intentionally provide advertising partners with raw local calculator inputs, file contents or game answers for ad targeting.

3.9 Browser permissions and device features

Some current or future tools may optionally use browser capabilities such as clipboard access, file access, camera, microphone, motion sensors, location, notifications, audio, fullscreen or downloads.

Your browser normally controls these permissions. A permission request does not by itself mean the underlying content is sent to Zerdly. If a feature needs to transmit information to an external service, it should say so before transmission.

3.10 Location and coordinates

Some Zerdly tools may accept coordinates or a location you enter, and a future feature may ask your browser for location access if you actively allow it.

Unless a feature clearly says otherwise, user-entered coordinates are intended to be processed locally. Separately, hosting, security, analytics or advertising providers may infer a broad or approximate region from your IP address.

4. Information Zerdly does not intentionally require by default

For standard use of the Service, Zerdly does not intentionally require:

• a Zerdly username or password;
• a public user profile;
• payment-card details for ordinary free tools;
• a server-side database of your calculator history;
• a server-side database of your game or learning history;
• a server-side search history containing your local tool searches;
• file uploads for tools that are specifically described as local/browser-based; or
• precise geolocation unless a feature clearly requests it and you choose to provide permission.

A new feature that materially changes these practices should not be launched without updating the relevant notice or this Policy.

5. Why information may be used

Where Zerdly actually receives or processes information, it may be used to:

• provide, load and operate the Service;
• perform functions you request;
• remember settings or local progress on your device;
• respond to messages, support requests or feedback;
• diagnose errors and improve usability, accessibility, performance and reliability;
• understand aggregate site and feature usage;
• protect Zerdly, users and infrastructure from abuse, scraping, spam, attacks, fraud or invalid traffic;
• serve and measure advertising where enabled and permitted;
• manage consent and privacy choices;
• enforce the Terms of Use;
• establish, exercise or defend legal rights;
• comply with legal, regulatory, court or law-enforcement requirements; and
• manage a legitimate business transfer, restructure or sale if one occurs.

Zerdly may also use de-identified or aggregated information that does not reasonably identify an individual for analytics, planning, security, site improvement and business reporting.

6. Local processing does not mean “no network activity”

Zerdly’s browser-first design refers primarily to the content you enter into tools and the processing of that content.

Loading the website still requires communication with internet infrastructure. Your browser may also contact third parties when an enabled feature needs them, for example an analytics service, advertising provider, embedded third-party content, security provider or external link.

For this reason, Zerdly avoids promising that “nothing is ever transmitted” merely because a tool’s calculation logic runs locally.

7. File processing and exported files

For local file tools, Zerdly aims to keep selected file contents on your device unless the feature clearly states otherwise.

Outputs you download or export become files under your control. Zerdly cannot control how your operating system, browser, backup software, cloud-sync service, email client or other application handles a file after export.

Keep your own original copies. Browser-side processing can fail because of unsupported formats, memory limits, browser behaviour, device limitations or software defects.

8. Tool Bag, restore codes, QR codes, exports and shareable links

Zerdly may let you move or share locally stored information using restore codes, downloaded files, QR codes, share links or similar mechanisms.

If you choose to export or share information:

• you are responsible for the people and services you share it with;
• anyone who receives a restore code, exported file or share link may be able to read or import the information it contains;
• content encoded in a URL can be visible to the recipient’s browser and may be included in ordinary request or referrer data depending on how the feature is designed;
• third-party messaging, email, cloud storage or QR-scanning services have their own privacy practices; and
• you should not put sensitive, confidential or identifying information into a shareable link or code unless you understand the consequences.

Zerdly should design shareable features to minimise unnecessary data exposure, but the act of sharing is controlled by you.

9. Zerdly Interactive, kids games and learning features

Zerdly includes or may include games, puzzles, educational activities, kids maths, skill/reflex activities and other content that can be used by children and families.

Zerdly’s preferred design for these areas is to minimise personal information and avoid requiring a child to create an account or public profile merely to play or learn.

9.1 Local progress

Scores, progress, achievements, saved puzzles and similar information may be stored locally on the device. Local progress is not a formal school record and may be deleted by browser/device actions.

9.2 Personal information from children

Children should not send Zerdly personal information through contact channels without the involvement of a parent, guardian, teacher or other responsible adult.

Zerdly does not intentionally ask a child to provide a full legal name, home address, phone number, school identifier, government identifier, personal photo or other unnecessary identifying information to use ordinary kids games or learning features.

If a future feature needs to collect personal information from a child, Zerdly should introduce a feature-specific notice and any age assurance, parental notice, consent or other protection required by applicable law before that feature launches.

9.3 Advertising in child-directed or age-sensitive areas

Advertising on pages intended for children or other age-sensitive audiences may be subject to additional legal and provider restrictions. Depending on the applicable rules, ads may need to be non-personalised, contextual, subject to age-restricted data treatment, or disabled.

Zerdly should not use raw learning answers, game answers, child-entered text or local child progress to create advertising profiles.

9.4 Parents, guardians and educators

Parents, guardians and educators should supervise use appropriate to the child’s age and should avoid entering identifiable student information into local tools unless necessary and appropriate.

Zerdly is not a school information system, learning management system or secure student-record repository unless a feature expressly says otherwise.

10. Cookies and similar technologies

Zerdly may use different categories of browser storage and similar technologies for different purposes.

Local feature storage may remember preferences, Tool Bag content, saved games or learning progress on your device.

Essential/security technologies may help deliver the site, prevent abuse, maintain security or manage consent choices.

Analytics technologies may measure site usage in a privacy-conscious or aggregated way.

Advertising technologies, when enabled, may support contextual/personalised advertising, measurement, fraud prevention and privacy-choice signals.

Your browser can usually block or delete cookies and site storage, but doing so may reset preferences, sign-out states on third-party services, Tool Bag content or local game/learning progress.

Where consent is legally required before a non-essential technology is used, Zerdly should obtain that consent through an appropriate consent mechanism.

11. Analytics

Zerdly may use services such as Vercel Web Analytics or a comparable privacy-conscious analytics provider.

The purpose is to understand broad site traffic and feature usage, not to read the content users type into calculators or games. Analytics configuration should be reviewed whenever custom events are added so sensitive data is not accidentally included.

Analytics providers may process information in countries where they or their infrastructure operate.

12. Advertising and sponsored content

Zerdly may monetise the Service through advertisements, sponsorships, affiliate relationships or similar arrangements.

An advertisement or sponsored link does not mean Zerdly guarantees, endorses or is responsible for the advertiser, product, service, offer, claim or external website.

Advertising and consent providers may act as independent controllers or businesses under privacy laws for some of their processing. Their own notices and consent information may apply in addition to this Policy.

If advertising practices materially change the categories of personal information Zerdly handles, this Policy should be updated.

13. Legal bases where applicable

Some privacy laws require an organisation to identify a legal basis for processing personal information. Where those rules apply, Zerdly may rely on one or more of the following depending on the activity:

• legitimate interests, such as operating, securing and improving the Service where those interests are not overridden by applicable privacy rights;
• consent, particularly for non-essential cookies, personalised advertising or similar technologies where consent is required;
• performance of a request or contract, where processing is needed to provide a feature or separately agreed service requested by you;
• legal obligation, where information must be handled to comply with law; and
• establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims, where permitted.

Where consent is the required basis, you may withdraw it subject to applicable law and the technical limits of the relevant service.

14. When information may be disclosed

Zerdly may disclose limited information to service providers or other recipients where reasonably necessary, including:

• hosting, CDN, DNS and deployment providers;
• security, firewall, anti-bot, anti-abuse and rate-limiting providers;
• analytics and performance providers;
• email, form and communication providers;
• advertising, consent-management and measurement providers when those services are enabled;
• professional advisers such as accountants, insurers or lawyers where necessary;
• a purchaser, successor or adviser involved in a legitimate business restructure, merger or sale; or
• courts, regulators, law enforcement or other authorities where required or permitted by law.

Zerdly does not intentionally disclose raw local calculator inputs, local file contents or local game answers to third parties merely because you used a browser-local tool.

15. Overseas processing

Zerdly is available internationally and uses internet providers that may operate infrastructure in Australia and other countries.

Information processed by a hosting, analytics, security, email, advertising or consent provider may be handled in the countries where that provider or its subprocessors operate.

Because provider infrastructure changes over time, it may not be practical for this Policy to list every processing country. Where applicable law requires more specific information, it should be provided in an appropriate notice or vendor list.

16. Retention

Different information has different retention periods.

• Local browser data generally remains until you clear it, your browser deletes it, the feature overwrites it or the device/storage is reset.
• Contact and support correspondence may be retained for as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain records, manage abuse or meet legal obligations.
• Hosting, security and analytics logs are retained according to Zerdly’s settings and the relevant provider’s operational requirements.
• Consent records and advertising-related information, when applicable, may be retained for the period required to demonstrate or respect privacy choices and meet provider/legal requirements.

Zerdly aims not to keep identifiable information longer than reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it is held, subject to legal, security and recordkeeping needs.

17. Security

Zerdly uses reasonable technical, organisational and administrative measures appropriate to the nature of the Service and the information it actually holds.

Measures may include HTTPS, access controls, protected deployment/provider accounts, security configuration, monitoring, anti-abuse controls, dependency and code review practices, and provider security features where appropriate.

No website, device, network or browser environment can be guaranteed completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your own device, browser, exported files, restore codes and local data.

18. Data incidents

If Zerdly becomes aware of a security or privacy incident involving personal information it actually holds, Zerdly may investigate, contain and remediate the incident and make notifications required by applicable law.

Because most local tool/game data is designed to remain on the user’s own device, a problem affecting only data stored locally in a user’s browser may not be a breach of information held by Zerdly. Users remain responsible for the security and backup of their own local device data.

19. Your choices and privacy rights

Depending on your location and the laws that apply, you may have rights to ask for access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of or information about personal information Zerdly actually holds about you.

You can also:

• use many tools without creating an account;
• clear Zerdly local browser data using the site control where available or your browser settings;
• choose not to provide optional contact information;
• control browser permissions;
• manage cookies or site storage through browser settings;
• use consent or privacy-choice controls where Zerdly provides them; and
• contact Zerdly about a privacy concern or complaint.

Zerdly cannot directly access or delete browser-local data stored only on your device. You must clear that data through the relevant Zerdly feature, browser or device.

Some jurisdictions recognise browser privacy signals such as Global Privacy Control or provide opt-out rights relating to targeted advertising, “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. Where a legally applicable signal or opt-out mechanism is required for Zerdly’s actual processing, Zerdly should support an appropriate method and explain it at the point of implementation.

20. Privacy complaints

If you believe Zerdly has mishandled personal information it actually holds, contact contact@zerdly.com with enough detail for Zerdly to understand the issue.

Zerdly may need to verify your identity before providing access to or changing information. Zerdly will take reasonable steps to investigate and respond within any timeframe required by applicable law.

If a privacy law gives you the right to complain to a privacy or data-protection regulator, that right is not limited by this Policy.

21. Australia and other jurisdictions

Zerdly is operated from Australia and aims to apply privacy-by-design principles whether or not a particular privacy law applies to every activity.

The Australian Privacy Act 1988 and Australian Privacy Principles apply to organisations that fall within their scope. Some small businesses are exempt unless an exception applies. Zerdly does not rely on this Policy as a statement that every provision of the Privacy Act applies or does not apply in every circumstance.

Other privacy laws may apply depending on factors such as where a user is located, whether Zerdly targets or offers services into a jurisdiction, the nature of information processed, whether a page is directed to children, and the technologies used.

Where a mandatory law gives you stronger rights than this Policy, the mandatory law prevails.

22. Children and international child-privacy rules

Different countries impose different requirements for children’s privacy.

In the United States, child-directed services and services that knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 may have obligations under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act and Rule (COPPA). Persistent identifiers used for tracking can be treated as personal information under COPPA.

The United Kingdom’s Children’s Code applies data-protection standards to online services likely to be accessed by children. Australia is also developing a Children’s Online Privacy Code for certain online services.

Zerdly’s practical approach is to minimise personal information in children’s areas, avoid requiring child accounts for ordinary games/learning, keep progress local where practical, restrict age-sensitive advertising as required, and review the legal position before introducing any feature that materially increases collection from children.

23. Automated calculations, scoring and decisions

Zerdly tools may automatically calculate results, scores, rankings, hints, game outcomes or educational feedback based on values entered by the user.

These functions are intended to provide information, entertainment or practice. Zerdly does not intend to use personal information to make a decision that has a legal or similarly significant effect on an individual unless a feature clearly says otherwise and appropriate legal/privacy controls are implemented.

A user, employer, school, professional or other organisation should not use a Zerdly score or automated output as the sole basis for a consequential decision about another person.

24. Third-party links, embeds and services

Zerdly may link to or display content from third parties. Clicking an external link or interacting with an embedded third-party service can cause information to be handled by that third party under its own privacy terms.

Zerdly is not responsible for the privacy practices, security or content of independent third-party websites and services.

25. Changes to this Policy

Zerdly may update this Privacy Policy when the Service, legal requirements, providers or data practices change.

The current version will be published on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be highlighted through the website or an appropriate notice where required.
