Obby Lab 3D
A 3D obstacle-course runner and course builder. Every built-in course has been finished by a solver run, so every jump is possible.
About Obby Lab 3D
Obby Lab 3D is an original obstacle-course game. A short tutorial teaches running, jumping and checkpoints, then four worlds - Cloud Yard, Neon Canopy, Tideglass Works and Orbit Gardens - add moving platforms, bounce pads, timed gates, sweepers and crumbling tiles.
Every course in the campaign, and every Daily course, is checked by an automatic solver that has to reach the finish before the course is allowed in. The target time on each course is set from that run, so a target medal is always within reach. In Ghost Sprint you race the solver's run as a ghost.
The Build Lab lets you snap pieces onto a grid, test your course straight away, save drafts on this device, and download or import courses as small .zobby files.
How to play
- Press Play. First-time players start with the three-part tutorial; it can be skipped.
- Reach the finish arch. Touch flags to set checkpoints - falling sends you back to the last one.
- Collect the gold tokens and beat the target time to earn all three medals on a course.
- Open the Build Lab to make your own course: pick a piece, tap the grid to place it, then press Test.
Controls
- Keyboard: WASD or arrow keys to run, Space to jump, Shift to sprint, R to go back to the last checkpoint, C to face the next checkpoint, Esc to pause.
- Mouse: click the view to steer the camera with the mouse (Esc releases it). If the pointer cannot be captured, drag to look instead.
- Touch: the left side of the view is a floating stick, drag on the right side to look, and the buttons jump, sprint, restart and turn the camera.
- Build Lab: drag to orbit, pinch or scroll to zoom, tap to place or select. Arrow keys move, Q and E rotate, Page Up and Page Down change height, Delete removes, Ctrl+Z undoes.
The rules
- The timer starts when you leave the start pad and stops at the finish arch.
- Falling off the course or touching a hazard returns you to the last checkpoint; the clock keeps running.
- Pausing stops the clock and every moving piece.
- A Build Lab course can only be saved as a course when the start can reach the finish; drafts are always kept.
Scoring, saving and limits
Each course has three medals: finish it, beat the target time, and collect every token (courses without tokens give that medal on finishing). Your best time, checkpoint splits and best run's ghost are kept for each course. Medals unlock runner colours and trails in the Locker.
Progress, settings and Build Lab drafts are saved in this browser on this device only. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account. Clearing your browser data, or the Clear data button in Settings, removes them.
Needs a browser with WebGL 2. There is no online leaderboard and courses cannot be shared through Zerdly - share a downloaded .zobby file instead. Build Lab courses are limited to 400 pieces.
Accessibility
Settings include reduced motion (no camera sway or auto-follow), camera distance, look sensitivity, inverted look, a sprint toggle instead of hold, stick size and opacity, left-handed touch layout and a graphics quality setting. Sound is off until you turn it on. Status updates are announced to screen readers.
Questions
- Is every course actually possible?
- Yes. Every built-in course and every Daily course is finished by an automatic solver before it is used. If a Daily course ever fails that check, it is labelled as not verified.
- What is the Daily course?
- A new course generated each day (UTC). Everyone gets the same course on the same day, and your best time for it is kept on this device.
- Can I share a course I built?
- Download it as a .zobby file from Drafts and send it to a friend, who can import it in their Build Lab. Imported files are checked for size and valid pieces first.
- Does it work on a phone?
- Yes. On a touch screen the game shows a stick, look area and buttons inside the view. A recent phone with WebGL 2 is needed.
