Peg Solitaire
The hole-and-peg jumping puzzle. Jump a peg over a neighbour into the empty hole beyond it; the jumped peg comes off. Leave a single peg — in the ringed goal hole for the full solve.

Jump pegs over each other into empty holes until only one peg is left.
FreeOn this device
2 pegs · 1 legal move.
Controls
- Tap a peg to select it; its legal destinations are ringed in teal. Tap one to jump.
- Or use “Or choose a move” to pick from the full list of legal jumps.
- Keyboard: arrow keys move between holes, Enter or Space selects and jumps, Escape clears the selection.
The rules
- A jump goes in a straight line — up, down, left or right, never diagonally — over a neighbouring peg into an empty hole directly beyond it.
- The jumped peg is removed, so every move takes exactly one peg off the board.
- You win with one peg left; finishing in the ringed goal hole is the full solve. With more than one peg and no legal jump, you are stuck.
Scoring, saving and limits
Puzzles you finish without a hint are ticked as solved on this device. A hint marks that attempt as assisted.
Your position and solved puzzles are kept on this device. Download a backup to move them; Clear this game deletes only Peg Solitaire's data.
The hint searches from your current position with a limit of 200,000 positions; if it runs out it says so rather than guessing. The classic 33-hole cross is not offered, because no proved solution content for it is bundled.
Questions
- Is every puzzle here solvable?
- Yes. Each board was made by playing legal jumps backwards from a single peg in the goal hole, so the reverse of those jumps is a guaranteed winning line.
- What does the hint do?
- It searches from the board as it is now — not from the start — for a line that ends with one peg in the goal hole, and suggests that line's first jump.
- Why am I told I'm stuck with pegs left?
- Because no peg has a neighbouring peg with an empty hole straight beyond it. Undo back to where you had a choice and try a different jump.
