How to play Mahjong Solitaire
The tiles are stacked in a layered pattern. A tile is “free” — ready to be taken — when no tile rests on top of it and at least one of its long sides, left or right, is clear. Pick a free tile, then pick a matching free tile, and the pair is removed. Work down through the layers until the board is empty.
Which tiles match
Most tiles only match their exact twin — the same suit and number, or the same wind or dragon. The two special groups are Flowers and Seasons: all four Flower tiles match one another, and all four Season tiles match one another, so you never have to find an exact copy for those.
Hints, undo and getting unstuck
Because free tiles can hide matches, it is possible to reach a dead end. Undo steps back through your moves so you can try a different order, and Hint highlights a pair you can take right now. Every board is generated to be solvable, so with careful play — or a few undos — it can always be cleared.
Tips for clearing the board
Take tiles from the top and the ends first to free up what is underneath. When two matches are available, prefer the one that unblocks more tiles. Keep an eye on tiles you have four of — clearing three of a kind while one stays buried can strand the last pair.

How do you play Mahjong Solitaire?

Which tiles match?
Almost every tile matches only its identical twin. The exceptions are the four Flower tiles, which all match each other, and the four Season tiles, which all match each other — so you can pair any flower with any flower, and any season with any season.

Yes. Each board is generated to be solvable, so there is always a way to clear it. If you get stuck with no moves left, use Undo to step back and try a different order — or take a Hint, which points out a matching pair.
What are the controls?
Click or tap a free tile to select it, then tap a matching free tile to remove the pair. Tap the selected tile again to deselect. Use Undo to take back moves and Hint to reveal a legal match.
What modes and extras are there?
Classic gives you a fresh random board each time; Daily is one board that is the same for everyone that day, with a day streak and a clear timer. If you get truly stuck, Shuffle rearranges the remaining tiles into a new solvable layout. You can also send a friend a Challenge link that recreates the exact same board.
