How to play
The white keys sit in a row and the black keys between them, just like a real keyboard. Press a key with the mouse or your finger to hear the note. To play with the computer keyboard, use the A S D F G H J row for the white keys and W E T Y U for the black keys. Because the piano is polyphonic you can hold several keys down together to play chords.
Shifting octaves
The keyboard shows two octaves at a time. Use the − and + buttons, or press Z and X, to move the whole keyboard down or up an octave — handy for reaching low bass notes or high melodies without running out of keys. Your chosen octave is remembered on your device for next time.
Note labels
Each key can show its note name (C, D, E and so on) so you can learn where the notes live and follow along with sheet music or a tutorial. Toggle the labels off once you know your way around for a cleaner keyboard.
Instruments, songs, record and share
Switch between voices — Grand Piano, Electric Piano, Organ and Synth Lead — and set the volume to taste. Pick a built-in song like Twinkle, Twinkle or Ode to Joy and press Play to watch the keys light up as it plays. Hit Record to capture your own playing, play it back, then Share it — the whole recording is packed into a link you can send to a friend, with nothing uploaded.
Runs entirely in your browser
There is no app, plugin or account. The notes are synthesised on the fly using your browser's Web Audio engine, so the piano works offline once the page has loaded and never sends anything to Zerdly. Your settings — octave, labels, instrument and volume — are saved on your device only.

How do I play the online piano?
Click or tap the keys with your mouse or finger, or play with your computer keyboard. The A S D F G H J row plays the white keys and the W E T Y U row plays the black keys, exactly like a real octave. Sound starts on your first key press — browsers require a tap or click before any audio can play.
Which computer keys map to which notes?
Starting from the keyboard's base C: A is C, W is C#, S is D, E is D#, D is E, F is F, T is F#, G is G, Y is G#, H is A, U is A#, J is B, then K is the C an octave up and so on up to the ; key. Press Z or X (or the − / + buttons) to shift the whole keyboard down or up an octave.
Can I play chords?
Yes. The piano is fully polyphonic, so you can hold several keys at once — with the mouse it plays one note at a time, but on a touchscreen or the computer keyboard you can sound whole chords together.
Can I change the sound and play along with songs?
Yes. Choose an instrument voice — Grand Piano, Electric Piano, Organ or Synth Lead — and adjust the volume. You can also pick a built-in song such as Twinkle, Twinkle, Ode to Joy, Mary Had a Little Lamb or Happy Birthday and press Play; the keys light up in time so you can follow along.
How do I record and share a tune?
Press Record and play, then Stop — you can play your take back with Play recording. Share recording turns it into a link (using your device's share sheet, or copied to your clipboard). The notes are encoded in the link itself, so when a friend opens it the tune is ready to play; nothing is ever uploaded.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The piano is 100% browser-based and works on phones, tablets and computers with no app, plugin or sign-up. The sound is generated live in your browser using the Web Audio API.
Why is there no sound?
Make sure your device is not muted and that you have clicked or tapped a key at least once — browsers block audio until you interact with the page. If it is still silent, your browser may not support the Web Audio API, in which case the keys still light up but stay quiet.
Is anything uploaded?
No. Everything runs on your device — your settings (octave, labels, instrument and volume) stay in your browser, and even a shared recording travels inside the link itself. There is no account and nothing is sent to Zerdly.
