How to use this calculator
- Enter the column diameter (mm) and height (m).
- Optionally set the number of columns for the total.
How it works
Volume = π × radius² × height, where the radius is half the diameter (converted from mm).
Worked example
300 mm × 3 m. ≈ 0.212 m³ per column.
Common mistakes
- Forgetting to order extra for spillage and over-dig.
- Using the diameter as the radius.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate concrete for a column?
For a round column, volume = π × radius² × height; for a square column, width × depth × height. The tool covers both.
Should I add extra for columns?
Yes — a small allowance covers form movement and spillage, and ordering a little over avoids a cold joint from a short pour.
Does this include the footing?
No — it's just the round column shaft. Add the footing/pad volume separately.
