How to use this calculator
- Enter the radius and height.
- Press Calculate for the volume.
How it works
A cylinder's volume is the circle area times the height: π × radius² × height.
Worked example
Radius 1 m, height 1 m. Volume = π × 1² × 1 = 3.1416 m³ (3,141.6 L).
Frequently asked questions
How do I find a tank's capacity in litres?
Work the volume in cubic metres, then × 1,000 for litres. A 1 m radius, 1 m tall tank holds about 3,142 litres.
I have the diameter, not the radius.
Use radius = diameter ÷ 2, then enter that radius with the height.
