How to use this calculator

How it works
The Planet Weight Calculator scales your Earth weight by the surface gravity of each body in the Solar System. Your mass (the amount of matter in you) never changes — only your weight, which is the force of gravity pulling on that mass.
Each result is your weight × that body's gravity relative to Earth. The Moon is about 0.165 of Earth's gravity, Mars about 0.38, and Jupiter about 2.5 (measured at the cloud tops). On the Sun's surface you'd weigh nearly 28× as much.
Worked example
A 70 kg person. On the Moon they'd weigh about 11.6 (16.5% of Earth), on Mars about 26.5 (38%), and on Jupiter about 177 (253%).
Tips
- The result is in whatever unit you entered — kg in, kg out.
- Gravity at a gas giant is quoted at the cloud tops, since it has no solid surface.
Frequently asked questions
Does my mass change on another planet?
No. Mass is the amount of matter in you and stays the same everywhere. Weight is the pull of gravity on that mass, so it changes with each body's gravity.
Why is Jupiter's gravity 'only' about 2.5× Earth's?
Jupiter is huge, but it's a gas giant with low density and a large radius, so the gravity at its cloud tops is about 2.5× Earth's — not as extreme as its size suggests.
