How it works
Pressure = force ÷ area (P = F/A). Spreading the same force over more area lowers the pressure.
Worked example
1000 N over 0.5 m². = 2000 Pa (2 kPa).

Frequently asked questions
How are pressure and force related?
Pressure = force ÷ area. The same force over a smaller area gives higher pressure, which is why sharp tools cut.
