How to use this calculator
- Enter the line start coordinate and bearing.
- Enter the chainage along the line and the offset (+ = right).
- Press Calculate for the point coordinate.
How it works
Sets out a point from a chainage along a line plus a perpendicular offset; a positive offset is to the right of the bearing direction.
Worked example
120 m chainage, 5 m right. Returns the easting/northing of the offset peg.
Frequently asked questions
Which way is a positive offset?
To the right when facing along the increasing-chainage direction of the line.
