AI Privacy Redaction Helper
A free, browser-based tool. Runs entirely in your browser — no sign up, nothing stored.
Paste text to check
Detection happens entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded or stored. It catches common patterns, not everything.
How to use this calculator
- Paste the text you're about to send to an AI.
- Review the items it flags as sensitive.
- Copy the redacted version and use that instead.
How it works
Pattern matching runs entirely in your browser to spot common sensitive data — email addresses, API keys/tokens, card-like numbers, phone numbers and IP addresses — and replaces each with a tag like [EMAIL].
It catches common patterns, not everything (names, internal context and unusual formats can slip through), so review before sending. Nothing is uploaded or stored.
Common mistakes
- Pasting secrets into a chat assistant — once sent, you can't unsend it. Redact first, or use browser-only tools like these.
- Assuming redaction is complete — always eyeball the text for names and context the patterns can't catch.
Frequently asked questions
Does this use AI or send my prompt anywhere?
No. It runs entirely in your browser using rule-based checks — your prompt is never uploaded or sent to any AI model. Still, avoid pasting passwords, API keys or private data into any tool.
Does my text get uploaded to detect the data?
No. Detection and redaction happen locally in your browser — the text never leaves your device.
