How it works
Ride time = (distance ÷ speed) × 3600 seconds. Real time depends on terrain, wind, stops and drafting.
Worked example
40 km ride. 40 km at 32 km/h = 1:15:00.
Common mistakes
- Using an optimistic average speed — wind, hills and stops pull real averages down.
- Forgetting that moving time and elapsed time differ once you add stops.

Frequently asked questions
How is cycling time calculated?
Time = distance ÷ average speed. Enter both and the tool returns ride time in hours and minutes.
What average speed should I expect?
Casual riders average 18–22 km/h and fit roadies 25–32 km/h solo; group rides and tailwinds raise it, hills and headwinds lower it.
Why is my real time different?
Average speed already absorbs hills and wind — use your realistic rolling average, not a flat-road best.
