How it works
Time = (distance ÷ speed) × 3600 seconds. Real time depends on current, wind, tide and conditions.

Common mistakes
- Using flat-water speed against current or wind, which can halve your real progress.
- Forgetting that loaded or tidal paddling is much slower than a quick empty-boat sprint.

Recreational kayaks cruise around 5–8 km/h, sea kayaks 7–9 km/h and SUPs a little slower; current and wind change this a lot.
Should I include current?
Use your expected speed over ground. Paddling against current or wind can cut that dramatically.
