Checklist
Build an end-of-month (EOM) mine survey checklist — pickup, volumes, reconciliation and reporting. Follow your mine's own EOM procedure.
Still outstanding
- All active areas surveyed
- Stockpiles and ROM pads picked up
- Control checked before pickup
- As-built vs design captured
- Surfaces built and checked for holes
- Volumes computed (cut / fill / stockpile)
- Densities / swell factors applied
- Method and boundaries documented
- Survey vs plan / claimed compared
- Variances explained
- Reviewed with engineering / geology
- EOM report and plans issued
- Data archived and backed up
Study support only — follow your lecturer and the official assessment brief. Nothing here is stored.
How to use this calculator
- Work through pickup, volumes, reconciliation and reporting for the end-of-month survey.
- Tick each item; the tool shows completeness and what's outstanding.
- Clear everything before the EOM report is issued.
How it works
An end-of-month mine survey captures all active areas and stockpiles, builds and checks surfaces, computes volumes with the right densities, then reconciles survey against plan and explains any variances before reporting.
This is a study/QA aid — always follow your mine's own EOM procedure and reconciliation rules.
Worked example
Monthly reconciliation. All active areas and stockpiles picked up against checked control, volumes computed and density-adjusted, survey vs claimed compared and variances explained, then the report and plans issued and archived.
Frequently asked questions
Why reconcile survey against the plan or claimed figures?
Reconciliation catches errors and confirms production. Unexplained variances between surveyed and claimed volumes are a red flag to investigate before reporting.
Is this official course material?
No. It is free study support mapped to surveying course levels — not official North Metropolitan TAFE content or advice. Always follow your lecturer and the official assessment brief, and check your own working.
