How to use this calculator
- Enter the battery size (kWh) and charger power (kW).
- Set the start and target charge percentages.
How it works
Energy needed = battery × (target − start)%. Time = that energy ÷ charger power, allowing ~90% charging efficiency.
Worked example
60 kWh, 7 kW, 20→80%. About 5.7 hours.
Common mistakes
- Expecting the same speed above 80% — charging deliberately slows to protect the battery.
- Using the car's max rate when your charger or supply is the real limit.
Frequently asked questions
Why doesn't it match the '10-80% in 18 min' claim?
Those are DC fast-charger figures. This tool models a steady rate; real DC charging tapers, and AC home charging is much slower.
