How it works
Australian GST is 10%. To add GST, multiply the amount by 1.10. To find the GST already inside a GST-inclusive price, divide that price by 11. To remove GST, divide the inclusive price by 1.10.
Worked example
$100 plus 10% GST. GST = $100 × 10% = $10, so the GST-inclusive total is $110.
Common mistakes
- Removing GST by subtracting 10% — to back it out, divide the total by 1.1, don't take 10% off.
- Assuming 10% — set the rate to your country's GST/VAT if it differs.
