How to use this calculator
- Enter the two points' coordinates.
- Press Calculate.
How it works
Slope (gradient) = (y₂ − y₁) ÷ (x₂ − x₁) — the rise over the run.
Worked example
(0,0) to (2,4). = 2.
Frequently asked questions
What does a negative slope mean?
The line falls from left to right. A slope of 0 is flat, and a vertical line has an undefined slope (the run is zero).
Is slope the same as gradient?
Yes — slope, gradient and rise-over-run all describe the same steepness measure.
