Time Converter
Converts fixed durations between milliseconds, seconds, minutes, hours, days and weeks, and shows elapsed h:m:s without wrapping at 24 hours.

How this was converted
- Read as: 90000
- The second is the SI base unit of time.
- 1 h = 3600 s.
- result = amount × (s in s) ÷ (h in s)
- In s (exact): 90000
Elapsed duration (not a time of day)
25:00:00
1 d 1 h 0 min 0 s · hours are not wrapped at 24, and the sign is kept.
Months are not offered: a calendar month is 28–31 days, so converting “1 month” to seconds needs dates. 1 month is not automatically 30 days.

Exact unit definitions
| Unit | 1 unit in s (exact) |
|---|---|
| Milliseconds (ms) | 1 ms = 0.001 s exactly. |
| Seconds (s) | The second is the SI base unit of time. |
| Minutes (min) | 1 min = 60 s. |
| Hours (h) | 1 h = 3600 s. |
| Days (d, 24 h) | 1 day = 86 400 s as a fixed duration (a calendar day can be 23 or 25 hours across a daylight-saving change). |
| Weeks (7 d) | 1 week = 7 × 86 400 s = 604 800 s. |
| Common years (365 d) — convention | A 365-day year = 31 536 000 s. A convention, not a calendar year. |
| Julian years (365.25 d) — convention | A Julian year = 365.25 days = 31 557 600 s (the astronomical convention). |

How to use this calculator
- Type a duration (a minus sign is kept) or choose “Elapsed h:m:s” and enter something like 25:00:00.
- Choose the unit you want to see.
- Read the result, the elapsed h:mm:ss card and the table of every unit.
How it works
Durations use fixed units: 1 min = 60 s, 1 h = 3600 s, 1 day = 86 400 s and 1 week = 604 800 s. The conversion is exact; only the display is rounded.
Elapsed time is composed as hours:minutes:seconds with hours allowed past 24, so 90 000 s is 25:00:00 — it is a duration, not a time of day.
Calendar months and years are not fixed lengths, so months are not offered. A 365-day year and the Julian year (365.25 days, an astronomical convention) are available but labelled as conventions — use a date calculator for calendar arithmetic.
Worked example
90,000 seconds. 90 000 ÷ 3600 = 25 h exactly; 90 000 ÷ 86 400 = 1.041666667 days (rounded; exactly 25/24 days); elapsed form 25:00:00 (1 d 1 h 0 min 0 s). And 3600 s = 60 min = 1 h.
Frequently asked questions
Can months be converted?
Not as a fixed unit: a calendar month is 28 to 31 days, so “1 month” is not automatically 30 days. For month or year gaps between dates use the days-between-dates or age calculator; this tool only offers labelled 365-day and Julian (365.25-day) year conventions.
Why do hours go past 24?
Because the result is an elapsed duration, not a clock time. 90 000 seconds is 25 hours, shown as 25:00:00 rather than wrapping round to 1:00.
Is this a duration or a time of day?
A duration. It ignores time zones and daylight-saving changes; a calendar day across a clock change can be 23 or 25 hours, which only date-and-time arithmetic can account for.
Does it work offline and stay private?
Yes — the conversion runs entirely in your browser, with no sign-up and nothing sent to a server.
