How to use this calculator
- Enter your target distance (m), goal time and lap length (default 400 m).
- Read how many laps you'll run and the time you need per lap.
How it works
Laps = distance ÷ lap length; time per lap = goal time ÷ laps. Hitting an even lap split is the simplest way to pace a track race.
Worked example
5000 m in 20:00. 12.5 laps of 400 m = 1:36 per lap.
