How it works
Gross WPM = words ÷ minutes. Net WPM removes errors first; accuracy is correct words ÷ total words.
Worked example
300 words in 5 minutes. = 60 WPM gross.
Common mistakes
- Counting characters instead of words — a 'word' is standardised at 5 characters in formal tests.
- Entering seconds where minutes are expected (90 s = 1.5 minutes).
