Field Notebook and Observation Report Builder
Record what you saw each day, the measurements you took and the positions you fixed, with the datum or coordinate system for each. The builder sets them out as a summary, as observations with their sketches, or as one page per day followed by the data tables.
Coordinates are printed exactly as you typed them, and a position without a datum is flagged at the top of the report rather than guessed. These are field notes, not a survey. It is made in your browser and is not uploaded or stored by Zerdly.

How to use the Field Notebook and Observation Report Builder
- Pick a layout: concise summary, observations with sketches, or daily report pages.
- Enter the project, date and observer, and any general notes.
- Add observations with a date, place, what you saw and a status. Upload sketches or photos and tick them against an observation.
- Add measurements with a unit and, if you know it, the accuracy. Add coordinates with X, Y and optional Z, the unit and the datum or coordinate system (for example GDA2020 or EPSG:7850).
- Choose Create document, check the report under View your document, then download the PDF.
Example
Two days on a creek line: three observations, water temperature 17.40 °C, two points with their datum and one flagged Datum not recorded.
What it does not do
- It is not a cadastral, certified or legal survey, and it does not compute, transform or check coordinates.
- Values print exactly as typed: no rounding, padding or unit conversion. Accuracy prints only if you give it; otherwise Accuracy not stated.
- A coordinate without a datum or coordinate system is flagged in bold and listed at the top of the report. Nothing is assumed.
- Up to 250 pages and 500 entries in any list.
Documents are made in your browser and are not uploaded or stored by Zerdly. Check the finished document before you use it.
