Lesson Plan Builder

Enter the lesson length and its activities in order. Each activity starts when the one before it ends, so the times are worked out for you, and the activities must add up to the lesson. A plan that runs over is not created; spare minutes are printed as Unallocated so nothing is hidden.

Add learning objectives with the evidence you will look for, any materials, and your own differentiation notes. Create the PDF, check it, then download it and an editable Word file. It is made in your browser and is not uploaded or stored by Zerdly.

How to use the Lesson Plan Builder

  1. Pick a layout: a compact run sheet, activity cards, or a section-led plan.
  2. Enter the subject, topic, lesson length in minutes and, if you like, the start time.
  3. Add objectives and the evidence of learning for each.
  4. Add activities in teaching order with a length for each. Leave start times blank to follow on, or type one to check it lines up.
  5. Add materials and differentiation notes if you need them.
  6. Choose Create document, check the plan under View your document, then download the PDF and Word file.

Example

A 60-minute Year 5 science lesson on changing states of matter, from an ice cube prediction to an exit ticket.

What it does not do

  • It does not write lesson content and does not link to, align with or claim endorsement by any curriculum. Add curriculum references in your own words if you need them.
  • Activities run one after another. Parallel group work is shown with a Group label, not as separate timelines.
  • Material costs are added as entered; no tax is worked out.
  • The Word file may reflow differently from the PDF.
  • Up to 250 pages and 500 entries in any list.
