Rubric Builder

Add achievement levels with their points, then criteria with a descriptor for each level. The rubric prints as a landscape grid with a Score column, and the level header repeats on every page of a long rubric.

Choose unweighted scoring, or weights that add up to 100% or to 1. The weights are checked exactly before the document is created, and the maximum score is printed for you.

How to use the Rubric Builder

  1. Choose a layout: low-ink, spacious, or a rubric with a separate scoring sheet.
  2. Add the achievement levels, best first, each with its points.
  3. Add criteria. For each one add descriptors and choose the level each describes.
  4. Choose the scoring: unweighted, percentage weights or fractional weights, and give each criterion its weight.
  5. Choose Create document, check the pages, then download the PDF.

Example

A persuasive-writing rubric with four criteria (position 25%, evidence 35%, structure 25%, language 15%) across four levels from Excellent (4) to Beginning (1), printed on A4 landscape with a total out of 100%.

What it does not do

  • It does not mark work or store results; the score boxes are filled in by hand.
  • Up to six levels fit across an A4 landscape page.
  • A criterion row must fit on one page; very long descriptors need shortening.
  • Up to 250 pages and 500 entries in any list.
