Storyboard Builder

Add your scenes with a heading, the action and camera notes, a duration and an uploaded sketch, then the dialogue for each scene. Every panel keeps its sketch and its dialogue together on the same page.

Durations are added up exactly to the tenth of a second and printed on every page. No screenplay text, film stills or stock sketches are included: a scene without a sketch gets an empty frame to draw in.

How to use the Storyboard Builder

  1. Pick a layout: Board-led overview, Sequential cards or Annotated overview, and how many panels a page.
  2. Type the project title and upload your sketches.
  3. Add scenes in order with a heading, action and camera notes, a duration in seconds and a sketch.
  4. Add dialogue lines and choose the scene each belongs to; add any timing notes.
  5. Choose Create document, check every page, then download the PDF or PNG pages.

Example

Seven scenes on two A4 landscape pages of six panels, with a total running time of 38 s and a timings column on the annotated layout.

What it does not do

  • Your own scenes and sketches only; no screenplay, film still or image library is included.
  • Durations up to 10 hours, to a tenth of a second.
  • Dialogue is never split from its picture; text that does not fit its panel is refused by scene.
  • PDF, PNG and project file.
  • Up to 250 pages and 500 entries in any list.
