How to use this calculator
- Enter the price and two discounts.
- Press Calculate.
How it works
Two discounts apply one after the other: final = price × (1 − d1) × (1 − d2). 20% then 10% off is 28% off, not 30%.
Worked example
$100, 20% then 10% off. = $72.
Common mistakes
- Adding the discounts together — 20% then 10% is 28% off, not 30%.
- Applying them to the wrong base (after tax vs before tax).
Frequently asked questions
How do stacked discounts work?
Each discount applies to the price left after the previous one, so they multiply rather than add.
Is 20% then 10% the same as 30% off?
No — it's 0.8 × 0.9 = 0.72, i.e. 28% off, not 30%.
