Comic and Graphic Story Booklet Builder

Choose a panel grid for each page, place your own drawings or photos in the panels, and add speech, thought and whisper bubbles with tails, caption boxes and a line of narration. The cover carries the title and says which way the book reads.

Lettering is set in plain Noto Sans and never goes below 8 pt. Right-to-left books number and place panels right to left and bind on the right. It is all made in your browser and is not uploaded or stored by Zerdly.

How to use the Comic and Graphic Story Booklet Builder

  1. Pick a layout: classic panels, numbered cards, or an annotated proof with a script under the panels.
  2. Enter the title and choose the reading direction: left to right, or right to left.
  3. Upload your artwork, then add pages: choose a grid and tick the pictures for its panels in reading order.
  4. Add bubbles: pick the page and panel, type the words, and set the position and size as percentages of the panel, with a tail and a style.
  5. Add captions for pictures that need a narration box.
  6. Choose reader order or a folded booklet, then Create document, check it under View your document, and download the PDF or PNG pages.

Example

A three-page A5 story, The Lighthouse Cat: a wide panel over two, a grid of four and two tiers, seven speech, thought and whisper bubbles, and a cover that says it reads left to right.

What it does not do

  • There is no character, sticker or clip-art library and no comic or speech font; the only pictures are the ones you upload.
  • Bubble words are fitted between 11 pt and 8 pt. If they do not fit at 8 pt you are asked to enlarge the bubble or cut words; text is never made smaller or cut off.
  • Art is placed to fill each panel and cropped at the edges; it is not mirrored for right-to-left books.
  • A folded booklet adds blank pages to make a multiple of four. Print double-sided, flipping on the short edge.
  • Up to 250 pages and 500 entries in any list.
