Notebook and Writing Paper Engine

Choose a paper style and a spacing in millimetres, a paper size and a page count. Lines, dots and squares are placed at exactly that spacing from the top of the writing area, never stretched to fill the page, so 7 mm ruling measures 7 mm on the printed sheet.

For loose sheets the left and right margins are used as typed. For a bound notebook the inside margin sits on the spine side of every page, so left-hand and right-hand pages mirror each other. Everything is made in your browser.

How to use the Notebook and Writing Paper Engine

  1. Pick a layout: Compact (the pattern fills the page), Spacious (a header strip with a date line) or Section-led (a title page, then numbered pages with a running head).
  2. Choose the paper style. Lined, handwriting, Cornell and music paper use the line spacing; dot grid, squared, graph and isometric paper use the grid spacing.
  3. Choose the paper size, loose sheets or a bound notebook, and the number of pages.
  4. Set the margins in millimetres. For a bound notebook, add the inside (spine) and outside margins.
  5. Choose Create document, check the pages in the viewer, then download the PDF. Print at 100% (Actual size) to keep the spacing exact.

Example

A 96-page A5 lab notebook: a title page on the right, then 5 mm graph paper with heavier lines every 25 mm, a 16 mm inside margin on the spine side and page numbers at the outside corners.

What it does not do

  • One paper style per document; make a second document for a mixed notebook, or use the KDP Interior and Journal Engine for page blocks.
  • Line weight is at least 0.25 pt so that lines print.
  • Printers that scale to fit the page change the spacing. Print at actual size.
  • No company profile or logo fields.
  • Up to 250 pages and 500 entries in any list.

Documents are made in your browser and are not uploaded or stored by Zerdly. Check the finished document before you use it.
