Sports Playbook Builder

Choose a sport for the field outline, place your players, then build each play as numbered steps. For each step, add movements: a run, pass, dribble or screen by one player, as one or more points. Each arrow is drawn on its own step and starts where that player is at that moment.

Positions are a share of the field, x along the length and y across the width, from 0 to 100, so a play keeps its shape on any field size or view. The fields are plain outlines with the usual lines, drawn for this tool: no league names, logos or official field art. Move players and points with the arrow keys in the play editor.

How to use the Sports Playbook Builder

  1. Pick a layout: Board-led overview (a landscape page per play), Play cards (six step cards a page) or Annotated overview (each field above numbered notes).
  2. Choose the sport and add players with a label, a number and a starting position from 0 to 100. Leave the play empty to use a player in every play.
  3. Add plays with a name, a view (full field or the right half) and steps.
  4. In the play editor, pick a play, a step and a player, then add a run, pass, dribble or screen and move its end point with the arrow keys.
  5. Create document, check the diagrams, then download the PDF or PNG pages.

Example

A 5-page landscape football playbook with two plays: an overlap on the right in three steps (a pass wide, the winger coming inside while the right back dribbles past, then a cross and a near-post run) and a give and go at the edge of the box on the right half.

What it does not do

  • The fields are generic outlines in typical proportions, not to any league's exact rules or art. A plain rectangle is available for anything else.
  • Positions and points are from 0 to 100 on each axis. A point outside the right half is refused for a half-field play; a player there is left off that play's diagram and warned.
  • A pass moves the ball, not the passer; a run, dribble or screen moves the player to its last point for the next step.
  • Play cards hold a short instruction (up to 220 characters); longer step text is refused by name. PDF, PNG pages and project file only.
  • Up to 250 pages and 500 entries in any list.
