Linework code cheat sheet
How to use this calculator
- Give the sheet a title for the job or standard.
- Add a row per feature code with its meaning, CAD layer and line type.
- Copy or download the cheat sheet so the whole crew strings linework the same way.
How it works
Field-to-finish survey relies on consistent feature codes — the same code must always mean the same feature, layer and line style.
It lays your codes out in an aligned table you can print or pin up; it doesn't change your software's code table, it just keeps everyone consistent.
Worked example
A few detail codes. EP → Edge of pavement (layer V-ROAD, solid); FL → Fence line (V-FENCE, dashed); TBC → Top of bank (V-NAT, solid).
Frequently asked questions
Does this connect to my survey software?
No — it's a browser-only reference sheet. Match the codes to whatever your controller or CAD field-to-finish setup already uses.
Is this official course material?
No. It is free study support mapped to surveying course levels — not official North Metropolitan TAFE content or advice. Always follow your lecturer and the official assessment brief, and check your own working.
