How to use this calculator
- Paste your point list; the feature code is read from the last column of each row.
- Tick 'first row is a header' to skip a header line.
- Read how many points carry each code, and the unique set — copy or download the summary.
How it works
Each row's last field is treated as its feature code (e.g. TREE, FENCE, KERB). The tool counts how many points share each code and lists them most-common first; blank codes are grouped as '(blank)'.
It's a quick local check that your coding is consistent before you process linework — all in your browser.
Worked example
Four points, two trees. TREE, FENCE, TREE, KERB tallies to TREE ×2, FENCE ×1, KERB ×1 — four points across three unique codes.
Frequently asked questions
Which column is the code?
The last column of each row. Total-station exports usually put the feature code last (after point, easting, northing and height).
Is this official course material?
No. It is free study support mapped to surveying course levels — not official North Metropolitan TAFE content or advice. Always follow your lecturer and the official assessment brief, and check your own working.
