Orthomosaic Deliverable Checklist
A free, browser-based tool. Runs entirely in your browser — no sign up, nothing stored.
Checklist
Check a drone orthomosaic or photogrammetry deliverable before handover — capture, processing quality, outputs and accuracy.
Still outstanding
- Adequate image overlap
- Ground control points (GCPs) surveyed
- Check points kept aside for accuracy
- Consistent flying height / GSD
- Camera calibration / alignment reviewed
- GCP residuals within tolerance
- No large holes or blur in the mosaic
- Seamlines and colour balance checked
- Orthomosaic (GeoTIFF) with correct CRS
- Digital surface / terrain model if required
- Point cloud if required
- Report with method and accuracy
- Datum and projection stated
- GSD / resolution noted
- Check-point accuracy reported
Study support only — follow your lecturer and the official assessment brief. Nothing here is stored.
How to use this calculator
- Tick off capture, processing, deliverables and accuracy items for a drone mapping job.
- Track the completeness percentage and the outstanding list.
- Resolve anything outstanding before handing the deliverable to the client.
How it works
A reliable orthomosaic needs enough image overlap, surveyed ground control points (GCPs), independent check points, and a report that states the datum, GSD and achieved accuracy.
This is a browser-only QA aid — follow your own or the client's specification for tolerances and required outputs.
Worked example
Handing over an orthomosaic. Overlap and GCPs are adequate, GCP residuals are within tolerance, the GeoTIFF carries the correct CRS, and the report states the GSD and check-point accuracy.
Frequently asked questions
Why keep check points separate from GCPs?
GCPs are used to georeference the model; independent check points are held back to measure the true accuracy of the result. Using all points as GCPs leaves nothing to verify it.
Is this official course material?
No. It is free study support mapped to surveying course levels — not official North Metropolitan TAFE content or advice. Always follow your lecturer and the official assessment brief, and check your own working.
