How to use this calculator
- Choose the column layout your software or assessment expects (e.g. PENZD).
- Set how many blank rows you want.
- Copy or download the CSV template, then fill in your points.
How it works
The generator writes a header row for the chosen layout (point number, easting/northing or lat/long, height, code/description) followed by your requested number of empty rows.
Starting from a correct, consistent header avoids the import errors that come from mismatched or out-of-order columns.
Worked example
PENZD with 10 rows. Selecting Point, Easting, Northing, Z, Description gives a header line plus ten blank comma-separated rows, ready to paste your observations into.
Frequently asked questions
Which layout should I use?
Match it to the importing software or the assessment brief. PENZD (Point, Easting, Northing, Z, Description) is common for total-station and CAD imports; check whether yours expects easting or northing first.
Is this official course material?
No. It is free study support mapped to surveying course levels — not official North Metropolitan TAFE content or advice. Always follow your lecturer and the official assessment brief, and check your own working.
