How to use this calculator
- Paste your point list (any common delimiter — comma, tab or semicolon).
- Set the start number and the step, and tick 'first row is a header' if you have one.
- Copy or download the renumbered list — only the first column changes.
How it works
The tool replaces the first column of each data row with start, start+step, start+2·step, and so on, leaving the coordinates and codes untouched.
It runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded. Useful for merging jobs or avoiding clashes with existing point numbers.
Worked example
Renumber three points from 1000. A list numbered 1, 2, 3 with a step of 1 from 1000 becomes 1000, 1001, 1002 — the easting, northing and codes stay exactly as they were.
Frequently asked questions
Will it change my coordinates or codes?
No — only the first column (the point number) is changed. Every other field in each row is preserved.
Is this official course material?
No. It is free study support mapped to surveying course levels — not official North Metropolitan TAFE content or advice. Always follow your lecturer and the official assessment brief, and check your own working.
